About The Area
Central to the Valley is the Susquehanna River — the nation's longest, un-navigable waterway that flows through Pennsylvania's rural heartland south of Harrisburg and eventually the Chesapeake Bay. The river has shaped the region's economy, community and cultural life — and gives definition to a people whose values and strong work ethic provide the foundation for the region's entrepreneurial spirit.
There is an endless variety of things to see and do in the region:
- play a game of golf at one of the 10 area golf courses,
- cheer on the the teams at the annual Little League World Series in Williamsport
- catch a Williamsport Crosscutters baseball game, a farm team for the Philadelphia Phillies
- enjoy a show at the Weis Center of Performing Arts.
- Knoebel's Amusement Resort, nearby, is enjoyed by the young and young at heart.
Monroe Marketplace is bordered by two affluent colleges, Susquehanna University with 1,000 students and Bucknell University with 3,550 students.
